Google has some grand ideas in mind for its AI-powered Google Assistant. Remember the appointment setting Duplex feature? Last we heard, a quarter of Duplex calls are actually initiated by humans. So there is a long way to go before Duplex becomes as seamless as it appeared when Google first introduced it at Google I/O in 2018. Look, it is still too early to write off Duplex, but it wouldn't be the first time that Google got our attention by showing us a video for a new project that raised the bar so high, disappointment ensued.
