Spotify unveils its first-ever hardware device, but you can't actually buy the 'Car Thing'

Spotify has been the unrivaled champion of the thriving music streaming industry for a number of years now, but relying entirely on a service under siege by tech giants including Apple and Amazon seems like decidedly risky business. As such, it's certainly not shocking to see the 2006-founded Swedish company dip its toes into the consumer hardware world with an aptly (and amusingly) titled Car Thing device.

This "thing" does pretty much what you expect, reportedly plugging into your car's 12-volt power outlet/cigarette lighter to allow Spotify users to control their smartphone ...
