Google might have been ahead of its time when it unveiled Google Glass in April 2012. At $1,500, the AR spectacles were pricey and looked down upon by more people than you might expect. Google Glass was also banned by some movie theater chains and bars over fears that the camera on the device would allow users to bootleg films and take clandestine photos of pub patrons. In addition, the entire fitting process seemed complex with talk of nationwide centers that Google would open to handle that task.
