FCC to allow U.S. phones to access signals from EU satellites for more accurate navigation

The FCC announced today that it has granted approval for smartphones and other mobile devices owned by U.S. consumers and businesses, to access the European Union's Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) known as Galileo. This will allow smartphone users in America to use certain signals from Galileo to improve on the accuracy of the U.S. Global Positioning System (GPS) currently employed on most connected handsets.
